Residual Interest
If you wish to gift capital property (for example, real estate or artwork) to Ongiara but retain the right to use the property during your lifetime, you may wish to make a gift of the “residual interest” in the property to Ongiara. Residual interest gifts are given irrevocably and donors cannot regain title to the property: it is removed from your estate and will not be available to other estate beneficiaries.
You receive a charitable receipt for the present value of the residual interest, and can continue to use and enjoy the property until your death. |
