The future site of Ongiara college is in need of renovation.
87 Jarvis St has a new roof, sound flooring and foundation but little else! It will eventually house two
classrooms, one lecture room, two barrier-free treatment rooms and washrooms, an administrative
storage area, a records room and student facilities.
Estimates for the renovations are in the region of $400,000.00 - $500,000.00.
85 Jarvis is structurally sound with an operational second floor. However, as it will be the future site of
the student clinic (ten treatment rooms), the ground floor needs complete restructuring to meet professional health care standards. This building will also house two administrative offices, faculty room, reference library/reading room, lending library, general kitchen, shower room, washrooms and reception area. There is a private garden for use by staff, faculty and students.
The cost of work to this building is estimated to be in the region of $350,000.00.
Façade of 85-87 Jarvis: Bridgeburg Station, originally the heart of Fort Erie, has gone the way of many
small town main streets. As part of Fort Erie’s efforts to recreate a town center, matching funds are being
offered to renovate building façades. The opening of Ongiara College will provide a focal point for the
street and inject new life to this area. Fort Erie council will pay up to 50% of the restoration costs of the
façade (a maximum of $3,000.00 per building per year).
Quotes are in the region of $55,000.00. Work must start this year (2007) to maximize council funding.
